How to recover a lost pan card.

PAN (Permanent Account Number) Card contains a ten-digit alphanumeric number and it is issued by the Income Tax Department of India. Besides serving as a valid document of identity proof, PAN Card, is important while making any online transactions, such as sale and purchase. In case someone loses their PAN Card or it gets stolen. If you want to recover your PAN Number, follow these steps:

1. In case you lost your PAN card or someone stole it, you should immediately complain to their nearest police station and file a complaint copy and take the FIR copy.

2. Then you have to visit the PAN or NSDL TIN nearest Centre and request the contact person for form 49A for lost pan card reissue. You should carry a request letter addressed to the Income Tax Department for a new PAN card, one passport size, colored photo, identity proof, address proof, and the copy of FIR to submit with the form.

3. After completing the above procedure, you are required to fill in the form (apply for a lost pan card) carefully without any mistake. Providing wrong details lead to failure in recover pan number.

4. After filling the form successfully, you have to attach a Demand Draft or Check for the payment along with the documents and submit them to the PAN/NSDL office. You have to write ‘Application for PAN change request’ on top of the envelope. You can also send it to the head office address, below by post:

The duplicate PAN card will be delivered to the address provided by the applicant within 20 Days.

 

How to recover lost PAN Card Online?

You can also fill online PAN card missing application to recover your card, these are the steps to follow to recover your lost card.

Go to the official website of NSDL and search for the section “online application for PAN”.

After that, choose the option “Reprint of PAN card.” This option is for your PAN Card was stolen, lost or damaged.

On clicking proceed, you will be directed to a new page, you have to click on the “Online Application for changes/correction in PAN data” Option.

After clicking on the option follow the guidelines for the next steps and then choose your type of individual, company or authority.

Now you are required to fill up the PAN card missing/lost form, giving details like your lost pan number, name, address, telephone number, email id, etc. Documents like passport size photos and ID proof need to be submitted with the lost pan card application form, you have declared your details are correct as signing the form before submission.

The lost pan card application form can be submitted either online or posted to NSDL, with the required documents.

Payment of Rs 107 (Indian Address) or Rs 989 (Outside India Address) should be made, though credit/debit card, net banking or demand draft.

On successful payment, an acknowledgement number will be generated which can be used for further conformity.

A duplicate PAN with the same details number will be delivered to the address within 20 days.
